On St. Patty’s Day we drank beer and celebrated in our GREEN, but we also cheered, honored and supported the Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN). The day kicked off at noon with a festive firefighter parade led by Grand Marshall, Angelo Aragon, and the Clark County Fire Department Honor Guard. Thousands of spectators, lined Fremont Street and looked on in admiration and enjoyed the bagpipe and drum music as the parade made its way to Hogs & Heifers Saloon. This year was special in that we all remembered and honored Firefighter and Hogs Friend & Family member, Mikey Tomko.
At the conclusion of the parade the PFFN Challenge Games commenced! Firefighter teams from all over Southern Nevada competed in a rousing trike race, a splish-splash bucket brigade, a testosterone-filled tug-of-war, a wild wheelbarrow race and the hyped-up hose bowling in their matching team apparel. Trophies were handed out to teams with the highest scores with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue as the 2023 Challenge Games champion!
Afterwards the celebration continued at Hogs & Heifers into the wee hours of the night. Throughout the day money was collected for the construction of a PFFN Memorial that was just recently dedicated in Carson City. A whopping $7, 862.00 was raised over the month of March here at Hogs & Heifers Saloon and donated to the PFFN for the memorial! This memorial took six years to build. We would like to thank all who supported the PFFN 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Firefighter Challenge Games and PFFN Memorial fundraiser. We hope to see everyone back next year!
