September 11, 2023 – over 100 Firefighters from Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other first responders, participated in the Annual Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN) “Patriot Day Parade”. The event started off with the raising of a HUGE American Flag in the intersection of Ogden & 3rd Street in Downtown, Las Vegas by Clark County Firefighters and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. Firefighters from all over, along with Honor Guard Members and Pipes & Drums from Clark County Firefighters, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, North Las Vegas Fire Department, Henderson Fire Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Las Vegas Emerald Society Pipes & Drums gathered at Hogs & Heifers Saloon before heading up to Fremont Street for the parade.
Around 7pm, the Fremont Street Experience Viva Vision displayed the red, white and blue as all participants in the parade made their way from the Main Street Stage down Fremont Street to the 3rd Street Stage. There Roger Hallback introduced Captain Cathy Browning of the Puget Sound Fire Authority, who sang the National Anthem. Afterwards a MOMENT OF SILENCE was taken and then “Amazing Grace” was played by the pipes & drums to remember all of those we lost on or because of that fateful day, 22 years ago.
The parade then continued north on 3rd Street to Hogs & Heifers Saloon where they entered the bar and the pipes & drums continued playing as they made their way back to the Hogs Flag Bar, for a few more songs and a toast. A huge thank you to all who came out to participate and support those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We thank all Firefighters, Police Officers and other First Responders, for being true HEROES in our communities, EVERYDAY!
Throughout the month of September, Hogs & Heifers Saloon bartenders are doing their Annual “Pass the Boot”, collecting donations for the Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN) Memorial Fire Engine.
